Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Fanfic reader (“the App”), developed by Daniil Zolotarev / MaxAndLeo LTD (“we”, “us”), handles information when you use the App on iPhone and iPad.

Fanfic reader is an unofficial personal reading app. It is not affiliated with authors, publishers, Archive of Our Own, or other rights holders of content you add to your library.

Summary

Information Processed by the App

The App processes the following data locally on your device to provide its features:

This information is used only to operate the App. We do not receive it on our servers.

Data Storage

On your device

Imported files are stored in the App sandbox on your device. Library state, progress, annotations, and similar data are stored locally using Apple frameworks such as SwiftData and App Group storage shared with the widget and Share extension.

iCloud (optional)

If you are signed in to iCloud, selected data may sync through Apple CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. This may include reading progress, annotations, favorites, collections, AO3 queue, saved searches, and reading sessions.

Sync is handled by Apple’s infrastructure under your Apple ID. We do not have access to your iCloud account or synced content.

Deletion

You can delete files and library items inside the App. Uninstalling the App removes app-local data from your device. Data already synced to iCloud may remain in your iCloud account until you remove it through Apple’s iCloud settings.

Network Use

Archive of Our Own (AO3)

If you open AO3 Discovery or import works from AO3, the App connects to archiveofourown.org as you browse and download content. That site is operated by the Organization for Transformative Works, not by us. Its own terms and privacy practices apply.

Wi‑Fi transfer

When you enable Wi‑Fi transfer, the App starts a temporary local HTTP server on your device so other devices on the same network can download files you choose to share. This traffic stays on your local network and is not sent to us.

No developer backend

Fanfic reader does not upload your library, reading history, or annotations to servers operated by MaxAndLeo LTD.

Permissions

You can change or revoke permissions in iOS Settings at any time.

Third-Party Services

The App includes open-source libraries for reading and file handling. Those libraries run on your device and do not receive your personal data from us.

We do not integrate advertising networks, crash-reporting SDKs, or cross-app tracking tools.

What We Do Not Collect

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians control what content is added to the device.

Your Rights

Because we do not operate a user account system or store your data on our servers, requests to access, correct, or delete data are generally handled by you on your device and through your Apple ID / iCloud settings.

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with privacy laws, you may contact us using the details below for questions about this policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
